Fashion design references the past and recycles various elements that are indeed eternal values. Architecture is too preciously about egoistic self expression & defining era difference in a haughty and territorial way. I am peacock blue/green with envy looking at that gorgeous pink house with the gothic window treatments. I have always loved higgledy walking spaces between houses (paths, roads, whatever) that are not grid-like. They are friendly and inviting "public spaces" and only really exist in country hamlets, villages and remnants encapsulated in towns and cities.

Birds of a feather no doubt winged their way to Poundbury to be together and this has helped "community cohesion". Out here in la-la land we have instead got "vibrant" and "diversity" values rammed down our throats at every turn which are to be "celebrated".

Well, give us space (low-density) if we are to have sanity and choice about which stress to embrace so we observe "social inclusion" imperatives! And stop making us feel guilty about context and familiarity and comfort! Please?
