I read the article with great interest because the site of MAXXI it is still partially occupied by my former art college, and the Faculty of Architecture I went to is just few miles away from it. The site has a sporadic, spacious and non dense character and the area contains most of the most recent architecture built in Rome. When ZHA won the competition I was an architecture student, her unique design won over many other candidates for its originality and ambition. The all infrastructure of Rome needs a top up and It is not up to us to judge the building yet. In 20 years time we will be able to see if the building is successful by the people that will use it. The museum may well acquire a strong educational vocation when finished. I will go and have a look during Christmas although there is no sign of sustainable design feautures.
