the schools of the 60s failed because they where thermally and acoustically ineffective. Then combining that with a aesthetic that was more utilitarian than a prison it is easy to see why they failed. Schools are meant to excite, and invigorate both the students and the staff about learning. the children of today have stronger relationships with forum goers and bloggers than teachers and parents so it takes something a bit more inventive than 'solid 19th century design' to get them to take pride in their school. With that in mind, this school should be commended for taking the harder route in not settling for a brick and slate pastiche
