"Replacing unfortunate 1960s extensions" by an even more unfortunate 2000s extension demonstrates how many architects have dismally failed to learn the lessons of recent history. If built, within 20 years I guarantee that this new wing will be derided in the same way we now deride the 1960s extensions. The dRMM design would be fine as a free-standing building on a site with no context but here it looks as out of place and vulgar as a dinner table with plastic picnic forks and tupperware. The architects have taken the cheap and easy route of utterly ignoring the character of the existing building and this part of Clapham, plonking down an off the peg one-size fits all design which just looks tacky and ridiculous.
