I specifically asked the journalist NOT to say the house was inspired by Native American adobe structures, as that isn't true! That's merely the first place I learned about the thermal properties of solid walled earthen buildings. In this country, you can replace adobe with cob... The house came after a visit to BRE's Innovation Park and out of our Summer School where we tested site built solid wall buildings and chose clay block for its thermal properties, moisture handling, and speed of construction on site with minimal training. Your diversion to Taos obscures the serious intent behind this building. It intended to develop a viable, natural and site built alternative to the types of prefab materials that dominate the Innovation Park.
