City block was completed back in 1990

Orms has been given planning to refurbish a 1980s office building in the City of London by Richard Seifert.

Abacus House on Gutter Lane – near St Paul’s Cathedral – is also being extended with a new private courtyard and a revamped reception area part of the plans.

Work will involve adding new terraces to the three upper floors of the seven-storey building as well turning a wine bar in the basement into cycle space.

The scheme is being carried out for Aviva Investors and is expected to start later this spring and take a year to complete.

The original building, which covers 5,700sq m, was completed in 1990 for finance firm Schroders.
