Faulkner Browns gets green light for work at architect’s alma mater

Faulkner Browns Architects has been given planning to design new sports facilities at the £23,500 a year former school of Richard Rogers.

St John’s School in Leatherhead was founded in 1851 and 20 years later relocated from St John’s Wood in north London to its current Surrey home. Other former pupils include actor Nicholas Smith who starred in 1970s sitcom Are You Being Served?

The multi-million pound scheme will include a swimming pool and a dance studio.

Phase one of the project will be completed by October next year and includes installing a six lane, 25m pool as well as a teaching classroom and office space. The pool will also be used by other schools in the area as well as local swimming clubs.

  • I totally fail to see what relevance Richard Rogers has to this article!

Totally agree David, I though this was an extension at some school designed by Rogers himself...

Looks pretty smart, although is that red brick element part of the new or existing building?

At least BD never lets you down if you need to know what the fees are for these places.
