The government has published new amendments for Part L of the Building Regulations, which are due to come into force this October.

New regulations covering ventilation and heating appliances along with three new appliance guides have also been published by the Department for Communities & Local Government.

A 25% reduction in CO2 for domestic buildings has been adopted – but insulating and sealing cavity party walls will not count towards this target.

Some non-domestic buildings will be allowed to achieve less than 25% while others must exceed the target.

On all buildings, at least 75% of light fittings must be low energy.
