Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates’ Tour First skyscraper in La Défense has reached its highest point, creating a new landmark on the Paris skyline out of an existing one
The final “plumes” have been added above the 10 storeys KPF has built on to Pierre Dufau’s 1970s tower, formerly the AXA tower, one of France’s first skyscrapers.
At 231m, the 50-storey building will be the tallest office in France when it completes in February 2011.
KPF is removing opaque end walls and increasing the use of glass. The tower will be 10% bigger, but will have half the carbon footprint.
