Newcastle scheme ‘inspired by success of other northern towns’

PRS Tower Rutherford Street Newcastle

FaulknerBrowns has submitted a 26-storey residential tower for Newcastle.

The scheme, for Surrey-based Stonegate Developments, has 162 residential units aimed at the private rented sector.

The planning application says the proposed building on on Rutherford Street takes inspiration from other major northern cities such as Manchester and Leeds which it says have embraced tall buildings successfully.

  • Doesn't seem the ideal spot to build a tower from a townscape point of view. It's very low rise and historic there. Great if the developer can get it through though as there's lots of gorgeous views of historic Newcastle to monetise.
