BFLS brings in eco-village
BFLS has won outline planning for the first phase of a 35ha Cornish eco-holiday village.
The designs for Millendreath (mill on the beach), a small, enclosed valley in the south-east of the county, are based on the urban typology of the Cornish fishing village.
The brief, from client Espalier Group, is for a tourism-led mixed-use regeneration development which will include holiday homes, hotels, leisure, retail and residential uses.
Buildings are sited beyond the flood plain, integrated into the landscape with hanging gardens covering the steep valley sides.
Jason Flanagan, project director at BFLS, said: “Our vernacular approach stays well clear of the picturesque - the holiday accommodation and public spaces reflect modern requirements and technology. The result is a subtle and viable mixed-use proposal.”
