Architecture Foundation aims to light up Willesden High Road
Architects and designers invited to submit ideas for animated advent calendar
The Architecture Foundation and Brent Council are calling on architects and designers for entries to create an animated advent calendar along Willesden High Road in north-west London.
The New Windows for Willesden Green project will use shop fronts on vacant properties along the High Road as backdrops to help mark the 25 days leading up to Christmas.
Architecture Foundation director Sarah Ichioka said, “The Architecture Foundation and our partners hope to build on the success of South Kilburn Studios, taking inspiration from that previous project to create new opportunities for both emerging designers and young Brent residents seeking relevant trade skills.
“We hope that the initiative will benefit local people, attract new audiences, and bring long-term cultural invigoration and economic uplift to the Willesden Green area.”
Start-up businesses and projects will have the chance to take up residencies along the High Road after the advent calendar scheme is complete.
Expressions of interest are to be submitted by email no later than November 8. To download a full design brief visit www.architecturefoundation.org.uk
