BD takes a look at the workspaces of architects

Patrick Michell said: “This is the desk where the office and clients comes together to discuss the projects, we have just had a brick and materials meeting for a country house project about to go into planning.

“We don’t work in a particularly linear way, always finding links between different projects and exercises, so it’s a constant battle between trying to stay tidy and needing to have all the stimulation and information to hand.  We work switching between sketches, physical models and computer models to test out ideas and refine the project through the work stages.

“Our office is on the angriest street in Hackney so our day is broken up by incidents of road rage and emotional breakdowns on the pavement below. Tea and chocolate fingers fuel the day and form the accompaniment to the dramas unfolding outside.”

This is probably the best of the set, as it should be, its busy with people working looking over material samples...

Not only does this unknown architect architect have a desk, but, wow, he even has a bookcase too - splendid show- Willy Alsop should learn a thing or two from this clever chap in Hackney.

Got to agree with SC on this one - absolutely splendid show! Never heard of these chaps but they're not half bad, I say, what with shelves and the like. Even a bit of wicker- chortle.

Damn shame there isn't any leather on show mind; nothing beats kicking back in a creaky chesterfield with the Hennessey and a large red pen. It'd be a jolly good idea to plug that lap top in too - they can be terribly temperamental buggers when they get older if one lets the battery go to pot. Ho ho!

Ruddy hell Vinny you're right! I take it all back! No leather, no scotch and no power frankly make for an insufferable working environment. It's a wonder how these chaps get through the day...

Ridders and Cole, old chaps, I agree, it is hard to work without a cabinet for Scotch and Hennessey near one's desk, what.
