BD takes a look at the workspaces of architects

Neil Deely said: “At MetWork we have a very large, central long table that most of us work at, constructed from shutter ply; it helps communication through the office and reflects our flat hierarchy. On the desk are some of our current projects for Bergen Arenum in Norway and Dun Laoghaire Harbour in Ireland.”

    This isn't a desk.

The only REAL desk so far is that of Robert Adams. He works at a real desk no wonder, his buildings are wonderful! Next up, let's see the desk of Jonathan Manser of The Manser Practice!

This is just showing off! Poor show, Deely.

'flat hierarchy' oxymoron. Is it so uncool and traditional to admit having a desk to yourself with a bit of personal space?

It doesn't look like a workplace... “flat hierarchy”…if you want to be pretentious you’ll have to outdo Will. He's my favorite pretentions architect.

I can't spell... BTW - why is it not possible to amend your comments after posting?...

  • Looks very 'posed' to me - I wish I had time to organise everything on my desk to be at right angles, apart from clearly 'placed' publicity material. Then again a 'flat' hierarchy probably leads to so much confusion on a single central table that they have to retreat to mundane desk tidying activities to convince themselves they can create order from chaos?

This "desk" even makes Will Allsop's look like genuine. And certainly Will's photographer had talent.
