Have your say on this year’s shortlist
From the nominator: “This stretch of Blackfriars Road is not pretty and the majority of the surrounding buildings are nothing special (except the tidy brick building Christ Church Southwark) however this does not excuse the intimidating mass of this block. There are poorly scaled references to warehouse windows; there are echoes of Gehry’s American Centre in Paris, but one that’s been scaled and flattened. None of this I find relevant to the context nor indeed pleasant to look at.”
